8. Big Shoes to Fill

Social commentary, by its very nature, provides points of view that are rarely broadly accepted.
Growing up in Philadelphia—and at one point in my life enjoying a daily commute with views of Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and Ben Franklin’s final resting place—I developed a deep appreciation for the genius of our Founding Fathers and the checks and balances of the unique democratic structure they created, one they hoped might endure.
Lately, much of what we have long held as “self-evident” no longer seems so.
My new original release, Clowns, comes from a need to express concerns about where we are headed. At the same time, I recognize that previous actions—and inactions—of our government, across all parties, have helped lay the groundwork for this circus tent to be raised… and for the clowns to perform.
There are some big shoes to fill.
